What Is Camp Eureka?
Camp Eureka is a week-long robotics and engineering camp hosted by our club during school breaks and intercession. The purpose of Camp Eureka is to spread science and technology information throughout the community and help our club fundraise for trips and parts. During camp, each student is placed in a group with one or two other students, which is mentored by one of the club members. This style of teaching encourages cooperation and creativity and provides students with individualized instruction from our members. It also ensures that all students find our camps educational and enjoyable! You can register for the upcoming Camp Eureka or read the Camp Eureka Blog Posts in the blogs tab! Keep reading this post to find out about our scholarship program!
Hilo Viking Robotics will be offering scholarships for students that are unable to pay tuition in whole and are in need of financial assistance. Two scholarships are available. Forms to register for a scholarship are available! Please fill out the form in addition to your registration forms by clicking on the button below. The scholarship will cover $75 of the $175 of the fee for one session and will be awarded to applicants who best demonstrate their enthusiasm for robotics and engineering. You will be notified whether or not you got the scholarship by June 17th (Applications are due no later than June 15th). If you are requesting a scholarship for more than one child –please fill out a separate form for each child (limit 2 per household).

What will my child(s) be doing at Camp?
Each Camp Euerka we hold has a different theme and game/activity. Generally, and will be what is offered in the June Camp, is VEX IQ Robotics, where kids work with essentially upgraded lego pieces, to design, build, wire, program, and drive a robot. At camp, we split the kids into groups of 2 or 3 where they work with each other and an HVR mentor to try and conquer the challenge!
