Silas is our Vice President of External Affairs. He joined in his freshman year, 2013. He joined because of the allure of our friendly atmosphere. As vice president, he provides administrative assistance to our president and the club. He specializes in outreach events, and he is also a builder/designer.
Through the club, Silas has learned a lot about public speaking and leadership skills, and he helped our team take home the Chairman’s Award for FIRST during the 2015 season. In his free time, he enjoys the pursuit of aquascaping.
Jackson Warren joined Hilo Viking Robotics in his sophomore year to work with robotics and other cool stuff. Through the club, he’s found a passion in computer science, and hopes to become an engineer in that field. He enjoys being able to work with his close friends in the club, and meeting new people through it.
Jackson’s most memorable experience was going to the 2015 FIRST Regional. The main highlight was realizing that so many people from different countries all came together to do something that they absolutely loved to do. That feeling “gave [him] the drive to truly put all of [his] effort into robotics, and ensuring that younger members get to experience the same joy and realization.” He advises to “never give up. Even if it seems like something impossible to complete, just keep trying and find a way. Sometimes in life, things might not go the way you planned so you have to work with what life sends your way and improvise.”

Chenoa was guided to robotics just this year, in hopes of finding something new to do. Chenoa has integrated well into the club and has already programmed a robot by herself. Chenoa hopes to build her knowledge and character to better her future through HVR. She enjoys her roles as both a programmer and one HVR’s photographers. In her free time, Chenoa likes to go to the gym and make “#allkindsofgains”.
