Hilo Viking Robotics is a club based at Hilo High School on the Big Island of Hawaii.
We participate in multiple robotics competitions, including FIRST and VEX. To raise awareness of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) in our community and properly fund our club, we hold a robotics camp called Camp Eureka where we teach elementary school students the basics of robotics. Information about upcoming camps and club events will be posted in the recent news section.
We pride ourselves in being a student driven club, meaning that the students plan, decide, and take responsibility for all decisions from robot design to community event coordination.
To spread STEAM across society by providing students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fields of science and engineering, while building self confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
We envision a future where society looks to engineering and robotics for solutions to real world issues, and STEAM fields are open to all youth. We work for a brighter tomorrow.
For only the second time in our team’s history, we’ve qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Competition. This year, it will be from April 18 to 20th in Houston Texas.
We’ll be traveling up to with 16 of our students and mentors to represent Hilo High at FRC Worlds! But, it’ll cost over $30,000 to make this goal a reality.
